Houston is the busiest port in the US for ship traffic:
This time-lapse sequence takes three minutes but compresses three hours. Once the Panama Canal is widened, the ship traffic will only increase here.

  1. The expansion of the Panama Canal (Third Set of Locks Project) will double the capacity of the Panama Canal by 2014, allowing more and larger ships to transit on their way north to large ports like Houston, Texas.
